Alt site technically online

UPDATE: SSL is working at least in the short term! Favicon is also up (32×32 for crapintosh support).

Right. I’m going to keep this around because it’s a lot easier to just word vomit here rather than writing up a new web page (it’s a pain in the ass and it’s one thing I’m okay with leaving in last decade), but at least index.html is in place as well as basic error pages. I also have e-mail set up on that server (no promises that it will last at all–right, maybe I should stop being so cynical). SSL seems to be moderately non functional (certificates installed, but I don’t have a dedicated IP so your browser will false flag if it doesn’t support SNI). Still pending some shit from CloudFlare.

Alt site is in progress.

Well, you can’t run an entire shitshow through wordpress alone. I mean, you probably could, but the money you gotta put down for something even approaching 12TB (billed annually so take all prices and multiply by 12 pending taxes), let’s not. Granted, I’m far too lazy to put together a proper “blog” formatted page, but for everything else (involving RAW dumps from the camera and MiniDV video because I still have a bunch of those cassettes to burn through), it could get quite messy on this platform and especially with all of the redirects, .htaccess fuckery, and easter eggs…

I might even be able to finally get the preview of my cousin’s business website posted for him to look at.

Domain/SN mismatch!?

Right. I suppose I should explain that because I’m pretty sure nobody else gives a damn (which is perfect reasoning to do anything). This may or may not be relevant because I don’t know if my SN shows here. Did I remember to put “aimless” on the page title?

Here’s the deal. I had a WordPress facilitated account for commentary YEARS ago and I used the SN that I have had on YouTube for the last 11 years as well as on a sort of intermittent basis for a domain. Well, apparently they still have that account in their records, but I don’t have any way to get to that old account and delete it so hey, the name you might not see here is different. OH WELL, SHIT HAPPENS.

What is going on?

Well, this is quite basic looking. As you’ve probably seen, I’ve gone as lazy as possible with the domain here. I’m not big on the pricing for “properly” forwarding the domain (essentially $100/year, I’ll stick to maintaining my Xbox LIVE and PS+ memberships). I’ll just keep it linked to what I get free here. So, what the hell is the deal with going forward on WordPress in the first place? I don’t properly know, everybody else is doing it. Give into peer pressure, but do so as lazily as possible.
